As a highly accomplished architect, resourceful leader, design and quality management specialist, Samuel Óghale Oboh (Sam) brings a wealth of experience and expertise in design, operational and stakeholder management as well as leading a national, multi-disciplinary team to attain excellence. Sam is committed to innovation, stewardship and achieving excellence for all.
Having successfully led and managed significant projects and initiatives in Canada and abroad, Sam demonstrates exemplary leadership through his unique contributions to responsible architecture and quality site management on projects such as the International Law Enforcement Academy funded by the Governments of the United States of America and Botswana; as well as the Alberta Legislature Centre redevelopment project - whereas architect, he led and contributed to capturing the spirit of Alberta’s most significant heritage site in a variety of creative and innovative forms.
Sam’s unique engagement approach coupled with his effective communication skills, networking abilities, impeccable values, ethics and knowledge continue to yield positive benefit for clients. With an expansive career and proven track record of measurable successes, Sam is a distinguished Fellow of the American Institute of Architects (FAIA) and Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (FRAIC) – one of the highest honours bestowed on accomplished architects for their contributions to the profession. He is also an honouree of the Australian Institute of Architects, and Chartered Member of the Royal Institute of British Architects from 2000 - 2007.
In 2015, Sam was named President of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC) - breaking down barriers and becoming a pioneer - inspiring many to lead one of North America’s oldest professional Institutes in achieving growth and increased relevance. In the same year, Sam was also named as one of the Top 50 Most Influential People in Alberta for championing great architecture.
A recipient of the American Institute of Architects 2015 Presidential Medal, Honorary Consul for the Republic of Botswana in Canada and 2016 Excellence Award for Leadership, Sam is highly driven and passionate about improving people’s quality of life through architecture. His varied background has enabled him to bring a valuable perspective to his role as a Principal | Vice President in a Fortune 500 Company - AECOM Canada Architect Limited.
